Taking a break is OK
But be careful to check that the break is not too long
It invariably happens that when you fiddle with your routine it sometimes lower your guard and complacency sets in, then you will need renewed guts to start off again, at least that is the case with me
It is not advised to take excessively long breaks as that way the efficacy of the exercise goes away. But sometimes you may reach a point where you're exhausted, fed up and badly need a break. At that time a few days or a full week off can really be useful.
